“Learning is not attained by chance; it must be sought for with ardour and diligence.”– Abigail Adams
OPBMS organized a one-day workshop for the faculty members on September 23, 2023 to mentor them about the working model of New National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and to discuss the way forward for further implementation. The session began with the welcome note and introduction of the eminent resource persons- Ms. Jaya Bharadwaj and Mr. Vivek Tiwari who are renowned names in the field of education and are experts in conducting various competency building programs for mentoring the teachers. They kept the participants engrossed with their interactive and informative sessions. The workshop emphasised adapting different teaching styles along with the need to adopt an inter-disciplinary approach in the classroom to provide children with experiential learning and critical thinking skills.
The resource persons shed light on the creation of a new structure in place of old, i.e., replacing 10+2 with 5+3+3+4 framework . They familiarised teachers with the skills needed to understand changes in the curriculum, shift in the pedagogical skills and its implementation for the holistic development of its stakeholders and students. They also shared that the substantial impetus placed on vocational education or hands-on learning in the new policy will give rise to multiple hybrid jobs. They discussed the redesigned report cards which will be a “holistic, 360-degree, multidimensional report that would reflect in great detail of the progress, skills and uniqueness of each learner in the cognitive, affective and psychomotor domains. They also added that the progress report will include self-assessment, peer assessment and teacher assessment.
The workshop was indeed enriching and informative. It enabled the teachers to gain clear insights on the intent of the topic. It also fueled the participants with a new zeal to start working on its implementation in their own spheres.
Principal, Ms. Sangeeta Sharma, on her thank you note appreciated the efforts of the resource persons and encouraged the staff members to implement the policy effectively and wholeheartedly.
