Food Odyssey
Culinary skills are not only one of the basic life skills but also give an individual knowledge about the tradition, culture and social values. To encourage the students to develop fascination for the same, a food fest, “Food Odyssey” was organised on November 09, 2023 in the Titan’s Hall of the school by the students of classes IX-XII with great vigour and enthusiasm. The event was inaugurated by Mr. Ashish Bali, Principal, Hotel Management College, RIMT University. Mrs. Neena Bansal, Co- Chairperson , OPBMS and Mrs. Saloni Bansal, Co- Chairperson , OPBMS graced the occasion with their benign presence. They spared their precious time to interact with the students, giving them tips and motivating them with their encouraging words and blessings.They appreciated the efforts put in by the students in making the event a grand success.
There were many stalls put up by the students, which offered a wide range of delicacies including Indian, Chinese, Italian and many more cuisines. The budding master chefs of the school put on their aprons and caps, to showcase their culinary skills. They beautifully showcased signature dishes –Brownies, Chocolates, Pancakes, Tacos, Mexican Kebabs, Golgappa, Mojito Burgers, Waffle Sandwiches, Cutlets, Maggie, Cupcakes Pav Bhaaji, Frozen Custard, Guava Blast, Coffee etc. The students took utmost care of hygiene and put in a lot of effort to make sure the food was not only delicious but also visually appealing.
The event was a great success in terms of a wide variety of mouth-watering delicacies and the creative decoration of stalls from each class. It was a fine learning experience for the student organizers to acquire entrepreneurial skills. This helped the students to learn teamwork, collaboration, and creativity. The event concluded with the prize distribution ceremony in which the chief guest- Mr.Ashish Bali gave away the Chef caps to the prize winners . Banika Sahi bagged the first prize for her preparation of 100% whole wheat jaggery cake, Riya Chandi , bagged the second prize for cupcakes,
Japleen bagged the third prize for mexican kebab and Samaira bagged the consolation prize for dora cakes. It was a great honour for the students to interact with Mr. Ashish Bali and learn certain tips about their dishes from him . Mr. Ashish Bali, with 25 years of experience in Hospitality Industry and having associated with brand names like Taj, Starwood, CITCO. Park Plaza and being a teacher to renowned chefs like Kunal Kapoor and Ranbeer Brar was a great inspiration for the young chefs. The lively atmosphere, festive vibes and delicious food made it a memorable experience for everyone.
