CBSE Capacity building Programme on ‘Health and Wellness’
A two-day CBSE Capacity building programme on ‘Health and Wellness’ was organised in Om Parkash Bansal Modern School on February 22 & 23, 2023 in the school premises. The aim of the program was to make the teachers understand the various parameters of Health and Wellness and hone their skills as Wellness Ambassadors to transform the school into a healthy and happy learning environment.
Mr. Paramjit Singh, Principal, Army Public School, Ambala and Mrs. Laveena Rajput, Principal, Army Public School were the resource persons and they enabled the participants to develop a finer understanding of health and wellness.
A plethora of activities on 11 themes of wellness program were deligiently organised by both the resource persons for teachers from various schools and each theme was featured and discussed in detail. Interactive case studies, role-plays and charts were used to provide information and benefits of developing life skills like inter-personal skills, problem solving, critical thinking and communication skills for countering stigmas and stereotypes.They emphasized the need to maintain balance between mental and physical health among the children right from early years of life and to keep on practicing these especially during the period of adolescence.
The workshop was an insightful learning experience for all the teachers. The teachers learnt many innovative strategies to help the students overcome negative emotions and aggressive behaviour. They also discussed the various ways to help the students to deal with negative peer pressure, unhealthy relationship, gender based discrimination and to build harmonious relationship through effective communication.
Principal, Ms. Sangeeta Sharma felicitated both the resource persons with token of appreciation for their valuable efforts and wisdom. She also encouraged the teachers to implement the learnings of the workshop for the betterment of the students.
